About Expat Alchemist
All of us, who live in places far from our native country & wish to cook and eat dishes from our home (or travels) are expat alchemists. We create foods, from what is found around us, to bring home closer, or a memory, or a need.
POP-UP DINNERS ISTANBUL
Pop-Up Dinners Istanbul was conceived in 2014. Over the 8 years we have catered for over 100 specially themed dinners. Each one is unique, either spanning the globe, or a festival, or a fun conception. It's a safe place for strangers to come to, meet others and enjoy good food. The Expat Alchemist
My Story
I am Eurasion, born in Singapore to a Sri Lankan/Singaporean father & Dutch mother. I grew up with the sights, smells and tastes of the East and West. Later in my teens I moved to the UK and there began my journey to cook foods from my home. This entailed foraging, adapting, evoking alchemy to ignite my home to come to life on the dinning room table. In 1991 I moved to live in Istanbul - the perfect city to accommodate the east and west that I am made up of. And thus became an Expat Alchemist again to recreate foods from places I have lived, traveled to and dream of going to.
